A little about me!

Biography
Greetings my name is Leslie Alvarez I am from Calimesa CA. I have currently been living here in Missouri for around 4 years. I have been able to gain my education through OTC and currently
I finished my major in illustration with a Bachelors degree in Fine Art. So I would consider myself an illustrator rather than a graphic designer. I am middle child out of four siblings & I would say I am pretty introverted when it comes to my social skills, but when I makes friends I cherish them deeply.
My favorite color, if you couldn’t notice is purple & one of my favorite animals have always been zebras.
I have always found their patterns, stunning . I enjoy spending my time with developing my art and learning new techniques that I can use to better my pieces.
I am a proud dog lover of a Shih tzu which I named Bombon and hes around 3 years old, and he definitely is a spoiled little guy. How I like to entertain myself is by taking walks with him and getting to spend time with my family. Now, two years ago I went through a pretty diffcult time with having a open-heart surgery, which honeslty brought alot of gratitude, for me to value my health and appreciate life. I definitely try to express that in my art with using vibrant colors & use of detail and making my content bring some emotion for others.

Artist statement
I want to reach an audience of a variety of people. I want to also establish growth in gaining inspiration from more artists’ work and expanding my knowledge in how different artists create a story and design their pieces.
I hope to bring a unique perspective and viewpoint when others see my art. My goals for pursuing the study of illustration is to gain more knowledge and understanding on design concepts in a variety of ways like conveying a message, reaching a variety of audience, and establishing what I love; Realism and a little more conventionalized style.
The way I would describe my art if I was the audience member looking at it would be lively and real, and the reason I say this is because art has me express myself and create something from real life and demonstrate it in a unique different way that stimulates my soul. Art brings me a sense of focus and it makes me excited when I am developing a piece and It starts to come together.
Don’t get me wrong, sometimes art can stress me out when my vision is not fully there. But I think that’s the beauty in learning from mistakes and the cycle of creating because that is what I think makes the most beautiful pieces stand out and make them unique, through trial and error.
My method as I am developing my art is either planned out or more freestyled I really strive to think before I start developing my piece, but emotions get the best of me and I get impatient. Though I typically start with sketching redefining coloring & redefining more as I go more into the process. My pieces as shown are pretty vibrant but they represent real life in a fun lively way that brings all the feels with each piece having its own narrative intention. I would like that audience members can interpret in their own way.
